There are lots of variations of Video poker but the three most popular variations are Texas Holdem, Omaha, and Seven Card Stud. Texas Holdem and Omaha are very much alike with very few differences making it easy to interchange strategies from one game to the next. Both have a pre-flop round, a flop round, a turn and a river round.
The betting pots are divided into the small blind (in front of the first person to the left of the dealer) and the big blind (2nd to the left of dealer). The pre-flop is the betting round when the initial cards have been dealt to each player. In Texas Holdem it is two cards face down and in Omaha its four cards face down.
In both games there are board cards that are dealt face up and each holds a betting round. The third card is the flop; the fourth is the turn and the fifth the river. In Omaha the player must use only 2 cards at the end in combination with the board cards. Both games should be played with at least 6 players.
Seven Card Stud is similar only there is an ante bet (before cards are dealt) and then the player is dealt 2 cards down and 1 up; then there is a bet, then a fourth card up bet; a fifth card up bet; a sixth card up bet and the seventh card down bet and like all poker games, the highest hand wins.
